Powerpuff Girls

One sunny afternoon, I decided to visit the local bookstore with one specific book in mind. It was The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. I had heard so many great things about it and I was eager to get my hands on a copy. Little did I know that this visit would lead to a chance encounter and the start of a friendship. As I strolled through the aisles, I couldn’t help but feel a growing excitement. But when I finally reached the “B” section in the fiction aisle, I was met with a sight that simultaneously thrilled and worried me. There was just one copy of The Vanishing Half left on the shelf and it seemed like I wasn’t the only one interested in it.As I hesitated, unsure of what to do, two other women approached the same shelf. One was Claudya, with a friendly smile on her face, and the other was Bethany, who had a determined look in her eye. We all reached for the last copy at the same time, our hands brushing against each other.“Wow, looks like we all have great taste,” Claudya quipped with a chuckle. Bethany grinned and replied, “Indeed. But I’ve been wanting to read this for so long!” I nodded in agreement, feeling a bit torn. “Me too! It’s been on my reading list for ages.” For a moment, we stood there, each of us holding onto the book, not sure how to proceed. But then, Bethany suggested, “How about we all read it together? We could start a mini book club and share our thoughts as we go along.”As we discovered, sometimes the best friendships can start in the unlikeliest of places, all because of a shared love for a good book. Bethany, Claudya, and I may have initially met over the last copy of The Vanishing Half, but it was our shared love for literature and The Powerpuff Girls that truly bonded us and created a lasting connection.
